I posted last week about moving forward in my work with corrective posture and exercise. I added links to my social media sites for you to check out, subscribe and share. I am thrilled to present my new video for The Posture Specialist YouTube channel. In this video, I present what I consider to be the best stretch and exercise you can do daily to enhance your overall wellness and correct postural discrepancies. I want to encourage you to watch this video (multiple times) and share it with your friends, family and co-workers. The 3-Lock Mountain I offer in this video is both detailed in its instruction and complete. If you practice this form of what I call "microfitness," your body will respond in amazing ways through the adaptation process (which takes 3-6 weeks). Stay thoughtful of your posture and how you are establishing new postural foundations and reap the benefits exponentially. I will be adding new videos every week. If you haven't checked out the last blog posting, you can find it here. I have a list of action items you can do to increase your postural awareness and make gradual corrections.

To view my newest video and get to my posture channel, click onYouTube Channel. My social media links and other videos will also be added at the end of each video. Make sure to "Like," "Subscribe," share and leave a comment. Questions will provide me an opportunity to do a video in the coming weeks that will give you an added bonus in your viewing and daily practice.

Enjoy and Happy Posturing!

I am excited to be moving forward in my work to enhance people's wellness through posture education as The Posture Specialist. My plan is to offer weekly videos on YouTube about posture-related wellness. Some of my videos will include corrective applications for exercises and stretches, some for basic everyday functions and activities, reviews on exercise, stretching and posture sites, injuries and various somatic compensations that lead to initial and complex postural discrepancies, and work that I am doing with clients and students through group classes or individual sessions.

I have included a posture collage above to show some of the various postures I see people in. It is not exhaustive, but is a good range for the waist up to the head. Which one do you think is the correct posture? Which one do you think you do? I want to encourage you today to increase your awareness of your posture. Start small. Maybe it will just be your shoulders pulled back. Or maybe you will make sure that your head is not pushed forward.

Here are some adjustments you can consider today:

1. Lengthen your spine by sitting/standing as tall as you possibly can

2. Take the middle of your throat and press it back till you feel a stretch on the back of your neck

3. Drop your shoulder blades down to your feet

4. Lift your chest up

5. Engage your diaphragm muscle and expand your ribs out

6. Pull the top of your pubic bone up to your belly button

7. Keep your hips back instead of tucked so you keep your glute(butt) muscles engaged

8. Make sure you are standing and sitting with your feet flat on the floor/hips width apart and your weight evenly distributed across both

9. Smile and relax your jaw and the space in-between your eyebrows

Whichever one or more you choose to try today, make an earnest attempt to do it throughout the day and for the entire week. How does your body feel? Are you sore? Do you feel more grounded or balanced? Does your body feel stronger and more open?

If you have questions, you can contact me at: theposturespecialist@gmail.com. If you are on YouTube, you can become a subscriber at The Posture Specialist and you will be notified when I have a new video. Feel free to send video ideas and issues you may be experiencing.  I do have a separate Google+ account as The Posture Specialist if you want to follow that page or you can follow me on Facebook at The Posture Specialist. I will continue to post on this blog as well. If you are looking for additional information on what I do you can check out my business website here and scan through my Pinterest account here. I have a number of wellness boards organized by topic. And lastly, if you are on Instagram, you can follow me here.

In the mean time, take good care of your body. This is the only one you have!

Warmly,
